Of course I would arrive in the middle of a valentine’s Day prom without a prom date or even properly dressed, hey I’m Kristen and this is me!

“Is it bad that I’m relieved to know that I’m not the only one partying date-less?“ Emma chuckled. “Oh, shut it. You look gorgeous. How have you been?”

“Woah, ha!” Bill stepped back as he simultaneously attempted to avoid the mess but catch the girl.  The attempt was futile as he caught both drink and girl.  When he saw who it was, it suddenly wasn’t the worst thing in the world.  “Hi!” he laughed, setting her upright.  He brushed off the droplets of cocktail that hadn’t yet soaked into his shirt.  Wait… Didn’t Emma leave?  Was she back just for the event or to stay?  Maybe she hadn’t left at all and he was imagining things.  “It’s fine, it’s fine.  Are you okay?  That looked like it hurt.”

image

A small sigh of relief escaped her lips when she recognized Bill. “Hey!” Emma giggled and straightened her shoulders, using the palms of her hands to pet down her bewildered hair. “Thank you for saving me.“ Bending down, she gathered four silver rhinestones that had fallen off her dress during the sudden colapse. She held them up in her palm before she let them slide into her, - now empty -, glass. “A couple of scratches, but we’re good. I’m glad I didn’t do too much damage.“ Her hand reached out to wipe at his shirt. God, this was embarrassing. “How have you been, Bill?” she smiled. “I hope I didn’t miss out on all the good stuff whilst I was gone.”

“I feel like the only time you really see this much pink is on Barbie.” Tom chuckled and took a sip of his beer.

Emma smirked up at the man in front of her. She wasn’t sure whether the two of them had formally met before, but if she were to believe the list of room devisions she’d received upon arrival, the two were now officially roommates. “I feel like I’m blending in with the decorations.” Emma chuckled, pointing towards her dress. It was the exact same shade of bright pink as the flowers stood in a vase right next to her. “And this pink cocktail isn’t exactly helping my case either, is it?” She chuckled. “I’m Emma, by the way.”

“Hello, how are you doing?” Sabrina asked with a smile. She was standing outside to get some fresh air. “It’s so pretty tonight. I feel like I’ve been dropped in the middle of a fairytale.”

image

Emma was stood outside, fanning herself with her left hand, the other holding on to a pinkish colored cocktail. She stared at the decorations, so preoccupied by the extravagancy of it all that she didn’t hear the blonde approaching until she began to speak. Her eyes moved to find the blonde. “It’s unbelievable isn’t it?” She brought her hand to her chest in awe. “It’s like I’ve stepped straight into a romantic novel.” Emma gave the other girl a smile. “How has your evening been so far?”

“Whoa, I’m sorry.” Austin apologized with a chuckle as he almost ran into someone. “How are you doing tonight? I mean, besides me almost running into you that is.”

“Oh, Gosh. I just spilled half of my drink on my favorite singer’s garment. It could be worse.“ Emma let out a chuckle, nodding at the empty glass in her hand. Her clumsy fall when she arrived at the dance floor was quite the entrance, but not exactly the one she’d hoped for. “I’m good. Just trying to get to the bar, it’s quite crowded.“ She placed her hand on the side of her mouth as if she were about to tell him a secret. “I need something strong. Any suggestions?“

Second time’s a charm, right? That’s what Emma tried to tell herself, at least. It had been nearly three months since she had been forced to leave the house merely two weeks after her arrival. Family circumstances. Now, two and a half months later, she was back. The actress entered the Valentine’s Day Party, her fingers fidgeting with the embellishments glued to her her pink dress. She wasn’t sure whether it was her nerves or if it was the gown that was hugging her curves just a tad too tight, but it felt like her heart was about to beat out of her chest. She figured entering a house full of fellow celebrities wouldn’t be so frightening the second time around, but it was. Her eyes closely followed the movements of a waiter, her hand automatically reaching for the tray filled with fancy looking Valentine themed cocktails when he passed by. Liquid courage. Three drinks later, Emma dared to manoeuvre herself towards the dancefloor as the speakers blared her favorite song. Drink in hand, she moved along to the beat of the music and mingled in the crowd. “Gosh, I love this song.” Emma said to no one in particular as she sang along, her head bopping to the rhythym of the words. This was when her ankle gave out. She nearly tripped over and made a semi-twirl, spilling half of her drink on the party guest standing behind her. She gasped and the apples of her cheeks heated up so badly the actress could of sworn they perfectly resembled the red heart-shaped candies at the dessert table. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry.”

Lauren’s eyes widened a bit when she realized who the woman standing beside and talking to her was. She had been a huge fan Emma’s for many years, and this was the first time the two had ever met. Lauren was a little star struck but did her best to not make it obvious. She turned, speaking to the bartender. “Hey! Can you make it two please? Thank you!” Lauren smiled brightly, her attention going back to Emma. “An espresso martini should do the trick. They are my go-to holiday drink. Well, and they’ll get ya feeling right. Ever have one?” Turning back around, she grabbed the two martini’s off of the bar and handed one to Emma. “I’m Lauren, by the way.” The smile stayed on her face. This was definitely not how Lauren pictured her night beginning but she was excited.

image

Completely oblivious to her starstruck-ness, Emma turned and gave her empty glass to one of the staff members behind the bar. If anything, Lauren wasn’t the only one taken aback by the other’s appearance. Emma was as well. Blimey, her eyes were striking. She studied the bartender’s movements as he began to prepare their drinks. “I must admit I’ve had countless of apple martinis in my days.” She let out a chuckle. It was Emma’s go-to drink whenever she visited the United States. Back home in England, people preferred to drink less glamorous beverages such as Guiness and chemical-tasting ciders instead. “But… I don’t think I’ve ever tried one with espresso.” She took the drink from Lauren’s hand, bringing it to her nose to smell it. “That smells delightful.” Her eyebrows perked up at the scent of it. “Vodka and espresso. Dangerous, but fun.” She approved as she held her glass up to cheers. “I’m Emma.” The brunette introduced herself before she brought the glass to her lips, tasting the drink. “They don’t hold back on the vodka, do they?” A giggle escaped her throat once more. “How has your time in the house been so far?”
